"Mommy! I need a WIPE!"
We are potty training at Chez Corey, and while things are going pretty well, I find that I may be interrupted at any point during the day by the bellowed phrase, "Mommy! I need a WIPE!" We haven't quite captained that particular aspect of potty training yet, but I have high hopes that we'll get there.
Corey has also discovered the joy of operating his own personal fire hose. And I am learning that little boys like to use their fire hoses to pee on everything. The potty, the walls, the floor, the potty training doll (who happens to be a girl - I'm sure she appreciates this), my leg, Mason, etc. I'm sure Corey would pee on the cat if she wasn't so fast. My favorite moment, however, was when Corey decided to pee in his little training potty and then pick it up and dump it out all over the floor. Mason walked in immediately afterward, slipped and fell right on his butt. I followed suit. That was fun to clean up. We are burning through paper towels at a record pace.
Mason is still meeting with the speech pathologist, and he has yet to speak his first word. Corey, however, continues to expand his vocabulary. In fact, when the speech pathologist was here the other day, she had yet to meet Corey, and she asked, "Does your older child still receive speech services?" I said, "Let me just tell you a little Corey story. Corey met a lady the other day standing behind a counter, and she had a stationary fan with her. Corey asked her, 'Does that fan oscillate?'" I also mentioned that Corey often says, "Don't let Mason pilfer my food!" when he leaves the dinner table. She was impressed.
Other than peeing and talking (or not talking), the boys are keeping busy at the pool, at library reading circle, at the playground, at Nanny & Papa's, and at Gran's. They're having a good summer, and they are certainly keeping me hopping! We'll try to get some new pictures up soon.
3 Year Glenn Anniversary
Today marks the third year since our sweet Corey had his Glenn surgery. It is a milestone for us. Every moment that we spend with him makes every difficult moment of our journey worth it.
Now we are beginning to look toward marking Fontan anniversaries......
Happy 18 months to Mason!
Our sweet baby boy turned 18 months old on Independence Day! He still has that baby face, but he outweighs his brother now. He's one big dude. When we sit down to breakfast, he eats exactly as much as I do. It's a good thing they sell eggs in packs of 18.
Mason continues to impress us with his sweetness - he's always smiling, bringing you a book to read him, or offering you a chubby-arm hug. He's a happy, lovable little man.
He's still not talking, but the speech pathologist is now working with us regularly, so we are hoping for improvement on that front. In fact, a new speech pathologist came to see us recently, and while she could see that he needs help verbally, she was impressed with him otherwise. She even said that she was having trouble not squeezing him, because he's such a cutie! As his mother, it was nice to have a little affirmation that my second son is as wonderful as I think he is.
Now for a Timmy update. Timmy is doing wonderfully well. He looks terrific, and his chest tubes may be coming out as early as tomorrow, which would be great progress. If you'd like to continue to follow him closely, you can access his posts at www.carepages.com under "timmydeskin". I'll update with major changes, but we are all breathing a big sigh of relief over a successful Fontan here at Chez Corey, I'm happy to say!
Timmy update,,,
Happy 4th everyone! Timmy is doing pretty well, and we are super thankful for that over here at Chez Corey. Here's the latest update from his carepage:
His breathing tube is out, but he is still on a lot of oxygen. Urine output is a little low. They are having a little trouble too finding the right medicine to control Timmy's pain. Remember, Tricia always says he needs as much as you'd give a horse! Tricia also said he was awake and watching a Baby Einstein video last night.
Thank you again for all the thoughts and prayers. Please keep them coming.
Things are looking good!
Timmy is out of surgery! Here's the latest post:
Tricia just called and said the surgery is finished and the doctors just wheeled Timmy to his ICU bed. Timmy's oxygen saturations are 96-97%! Awesome! She said that his hands and fingernails are pink! He still has his breathing tube in but they're planning to take that out tonight. Pray that Timmy continues to do well. Tricia will be staying overnight with him. I will update the page if she can't as she lets me know things.
Wendy.
Timmy is in surgery (deep breath)
Here is this morning's post from the carepage:
Tricia took Timmy in the OR at 10:15 am. She wanted me to update everyone and let you know that all his IV lines went in easy and the doctors should be starting surgery soon. Please keep Timmy and his family in your prayers today.
Thanks. I will update again as soon as Tricia contacts me.
Wendy
Rescheduled Fontan
Timmy's Fontan has been rescheduled. His mother posted this on his carepage....

Wanted to be fresh for Timmy so we came home. He is now rescheduled for Thursday at 830am...have to be there at 630 am. The build up to this is quite tremendous and we are all anxious... not that I want to turn Timmy over for sugery at all but the waiting is kida hard. Thanks for all of your prayers. Keep them coming.

Tricia
